A Sediment Water Filter removes physical debris and impurities from water. The filter has tiny holes that allow water to pass through while trapping unwanted particles. Filter sizes are measured in microns, with smaller micron ratings capturing smaller particles.

For visibly polluted water with larger particles, a larger sediment filter (such as 20 or 50 microns) is recommended as the first stage to prevent clogging of downstream filters. This sediment filter is often the first installed in a Reverse Osmosis system, acting as a net to catch sand, dirt, rust, and other fine particles.

Made of fine, melted polypropylene that is blown and spun into a cylindrical form, these sediment filters are resistant to chemical solvents, bases, and acids. Removing these particles allows downstream filters like Carbon Block or GAC to perform better for longer.

These particles come from water sources, old pipes, and water treatment contaminants. The four-layer, gradient filtration design of these sediment filters intercepts a wide range of impurities, including: - Rust and corrosion - Coarse, fine, and extra-fine sand - Hard scale - Various other particles

These 2.5" x 10" sediment filters fit most standard 10-inch under-sink Reverse Osmosis and whole-house water filtration systems. They can also be used as pre-filters in counter-top and under-counter water filter systems to optimize performance and lifespan of carbon or GAC filters.

With an exceptional dirt-holding capacity and superior flow rate, these 50-micron sediment filters reduce particles without adding taste, odor, or color to the water. Suitable for residential, rural, commercial, industrial, and municipal applications, they should be replaced two to three times per year depending on water quality.
